Shiny sunny day…

I rose early and set off on another shiny sunny September sojourn alone in the lanes, the acorns and mulchy leaves, branches, gravelly gnarly asphalt making me very glad I had chosen to wear my skinner socks… I padded round the lanes feeling a little like I had forgotten to put my shoes on; but interestingly no one noticed the socks in the way i am used to people looking at my naked feet…

Except for maybe a horse, who definitely connected and pranced up a bit as I approached – but maybe he wasn’t actually noticing my feet, but rather it was my pink top or the movement of my running body – perhaps in truth he was just looking at me…

The dustmen collecting the rubbish, greeted me cheerily and then asked me if I wanted a job… I wondered if I looked a bit like I was a ‘waif and stray’ in need of employment, running up the road in a baggy top that nearly covered my shorts and a pair of socks on my feet… But then they are not quite socks – and as it says on the ‘Skinners’ website neither are they shoes…

They are described as… Barefoot; handmade; durable; ultraportable; anti odor; washable… They are all those things, and I am very glad of them for extra ouchie and cold and frosty; for when I am ever in such conditions…

I do notice, however my body’s ability to adjust, to tread whatever path I take it along… My feet are the transmitters now; their role is so important and I am more keenly aware of their sensitivity, their connection to my whole body than ever before. I understand at a more experiential level reflexology and how the feet know everything and have all the answers and also the capacity to help us heal…

It is widely known that reflexology can help us clear any channels of blocked energy by moving the flow of blood and stimulating nerve impulses which then can positively affect the whole body and I am aware of this keenly through a lifestyle that connects me profoundly to my own body and to the earth… I am at one with the universe within me, reflecting in each barefoot step I take.

More easily now I adjust to making my way through the polarity of this plane… Everywhere we go there is the pull to traverse through… A beautiful beach on the Atlantic coast, miles and miles of sand to run free, with the challenge of a fierce headwind; vibrant Marrakech, warm flat roads to run along, with searing heat building early in the day; exquisite wild and rugged jurassic coast, breath taking views and glorious scenery, with ouchiness and rain and steep climbs; awesome South downs, beautiful in every way, with steep climbs too, and frequent wind and rain…

We live on a magnificent planet of yin and yang and each step we take we can step in with consciousness; aware of these pulls and stay still and silent in the eye of the storm… From this place our appreciation can be even more profound… Of the frost and the heat, the rain and the sun, the flat and the hilly, the day and the night, the enery of movement and the delight when its time to rest…

Later…

What an unexpected delight… Nicky appeared at Buxted Park because she was there for a meeting and we took the opportunity to make a barefoot vlog together!

The orbits of energy and connection playing out once again… A few months ago, our paths unexpectedly crossed then too… It was very early in the morning at Gatwick airport, I heard my name and there she was…!

We met because Nicky read ‘Running to learn’ and recognised herself in my words… The connection was already existed, was made manifest and continues to shimmer and weave its way through our lives…
